Privacy Policy
Last updated: 4 November 2026
This policy explains what GOA does with information about you and your device. In short: almost everything stays on your phone. GOA only shares anonymous game health data if you turn sharing on, and you can delete it at any time.
Who we are
GOA is made by the GOA Team. Privacy questions and deletion requests: support@goodoldandroid.app.
1. What stays on your device
GOA stores these on your phone only:
- Your game library: installed games, their files, saves and settings.
- Your controller layouts and app settings.
- A record of each play session (which game, how long, whether it ran at full speed, had sound or crashed, and settings you changed). GOA uses it to tune games and fix problems automatically.
- Your GOG sign-in, if you use it, encrypted with Android's keystore.
Games you import stay on your device. GOA never uploads your files.
2. On-device AI
GOA's troubleshooter runs entirely on your phone. On phones whose operating system already includes Google's Gemini Nano model, GOA asks it to choose between possible fixes. The question and answer never leave your phone through GOA. GOA never downloads an AI model.
3. Game health data you choose to share
Sharing is off until you turn it on in the first-launch prompt or in Settings → Privacy. If you turn it on, GOA sends:
- Session health: duration, outcome, speed, sound, stutter and crashes.
- Settings you changed: control scheme, button mappings and visual preset.
- Results of automatic fixes: applied, kept, undone or rolled back.
- Phone make, model, chipset, Android version, and memory rounded to the nearest gigabyte.
- A random player ID, which you can reset in Settings.
It never includes your name, email, GOG account, location, IP address, advertising ID, Android ID or other hardware identifiers, your files, or anything you type.
We use this data only to find games that run badly and to improve default settings for everyone. We don't sell it, share it with anyone else, or use it for advertising. It is stored by our hosting provider, Cloudflare, sent over encrypted connections, and the collection service keeps no IP addresses or request logs.
4. Retention and deletion
- Shared data is deleted automatically after 18 months.
- Settings → Privacy → Delete my shared data deletes everything shared under your current and previous player IDs.
- Turning sharing off stops all sending immediately.
- Uninstalling GOA deletes everything it stored on your device.
- You can also ask us to delete your data by emailing the contact above.
5. Services GOA connects to
These services receive your device's IP address and basic request details whenever GOA connects to them, as any internet connection requires. Their own privacy policies apply.
- GOG.com: only if you sign in. It is used to sign in, list your library, download your games and show their artwork.
- Cloudflare: GOA's content network. It delivers free games and updated game settings.
- Google Play: purchases (see section 6).
- The original publishers' sites, such as downloads.scummvm.org: some free games come directly from their official download pages.
6. Purchases
"Register GOA" is bought through Google Play. Google handles the payment, and GOA never sees your card or payment details. GOA only receives confirmation from Google Play that your account owns the registration, which it checks on your device to unlock unlimited games.
7. Permissions
GOA uses the internet to download games and settings, and your phone's motion sensors for optional gyro aiming. Sensor readings are used only while you play and are never stored or sent.
8. Children
GOA is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them. Shared game health data is anonymous whoever plays.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or UK GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of your data. Because shared data is tied only to a random player ID, include that ID (shown in Settings → Privacy) when you contact us so we can find it. The legal basis for processing shared data is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by turning sharing off.
10. Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes, and significant changes are shown in the app.
