Terms of Use

Last updated: 4 November 2026

By using GOA you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the app.

1. What GOA is

GOA is a player for MS-DOS games. It runs games you install from your GOG.com library, the freeware and shareware titles it offers, and games you import yourself. GOA does not sell games and does not provide copies of commercial games.

2. Your games are your responsibility

Only install or import games you own or are otherwise allowed to use: games you bought, freeware, shareware, or copies you have the right to make. GOA cannot check where an imported file came from or whether you may use it. You are responsible for every file you import and for following the law where you live.

3. Freeware and shareware

The free games GOA offers are distributed unmodified under their authors' freeware or shareware terms. Those terms, not these, govern the games themselves. Some of them ask you to buy the full version if you enjoy the shareware episode.

4. Gog.com

Signing in with GOG is optional. GOA is not made, endorsed or supported by GOG.com or CD PROJEKT. Your use of GOG is governed by GOG's own terms. GOA keeps your GOG sign-in encrypted on your device and never sends it anywhere except to GOG.

5. Automatic settings and AI

GOA changes emulator and game settings automatically: controls, sound hardware, CPU speed and the games' own configuration files. Its troubleshooter can suggest and apply fixes. On phones whose operating system already provides it, the troubleshooter uses Google's on-device Gemini Nano model. Its use is subject to Google's ML Kit terms and the Google Generative AI Prohibited Use Policy. GOA never downloads an AI model. Automatic changes can be undone from the game's page, but GOA cannot guarantee that any change will make a game work.

6. Free version, registration and refunds

GOA is free to download. The free version includes every feature and every free game in the catalogue, plus up to 2 of your own games (from GOG or imported) installed at a time. "Register GOA" is a one-time purchase through Google Play that removes that limit for as long as you keep it. There is no subscription.

Purchases are processed by Google Play under Google Play's terms. Refunds are handled by Google Play under its refund policy, and by us as required by law. If a registration is refunded, charged back or revoked, GOA returns to the free version: your 2 most recently played games stay playable, and your other games stay installed, with their saves, but can't be launched until you register again or uninstall some. GOA checks your registration with Google Play when it starts; being offline never removes it.

7. Your data

Everything about how your games run stays on your device unless you turn on "Share anonymous data". The Privacy Policy (Settings → Open Source Licenses & Credits → Privacy Policy) explains what is shared, how long it is kept and how to delete it.

8. Open-source software

GOA includes open-source software, listed with its licences under Settings → Open Source Licenses & Credits. Those licences govern those components, and nothing in these terms limits the rights they give you. Where a licence requires it, the source code is available from the links listed there.

9. Trademarks

Game titles, characters, logos and company names belong to their owners. Their appearance in GOA does not mean they endorse GOA.

10. No warranty

GOA is provided "as is", without any warranty. Emulation is not perfect: games may crash, run incorrectly or lose saved games. Back up anything you care about.

11. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, the makers of GOA are not liable for any loss or damage arising from using it, including lost saved games, lost data or problems with your device. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by law.

12. Changes

These terms may change. The date at the top shows when they last changed. Continuing to use GOA after a change means you accept the new terms.
